Aberdeen-based industrial cleaning and waste disposal specialists MS Industrial Services (MSIS) Limited has successfully completed a highly specialised project with oil company BP.
The organisation - which also operates from Invergordon - was involved in the cleaning of two slop tanks onboard BP’s Schiehallion FPSO vessel in the west of Shetland.
The deal is understood to be worth a six-figure sum.
Using its recently purchased vacuum transfer system (VTS), MSIS successfully removed in excess of 100 tonnes of hydrocarbon residues from both port and starboard tanks. The key element within the project was the VTS system’s ability to pump the sludge vertically for 37 metres.
MSIS began work with BP at the start of the year and, following the successful completion of such a high profile project, is looking ahead to further advances in the oil and gas industry.
David Skinner, MSIS managing director, said: “This contract with BP has been a real milestone in terms of our continued growth and expansion. It’s been a real boost for the firm and will hopefully pave the way for even more offshore work.
“The purchase of the two new VTS units has proved valuable in enabling us to work on major contracts such as this one with BP.”
A BP spokesman said: “Onshore testing identified the MSIS VTS equipment as the most suitable for the project. The system has proven its capability & reliability in completing the removal of the solid wastes from the slops tanks.”
MSIS will be conducting a demonstration of the Vacuum Transfer System in the near future. To find out more details please call Louise Rumbles on 01224 706705.
