A North-east based industrial cleaning and waste disposal company has forged strategic alliances with organisations in Norway and Nigeria, as it looks to expand operations across the globe.

MS Industrial Services (MSIS) has signed agreements with Norwegian company, Overflateteknikk AS from Hoyanger, a provider of innovative chemical cleaning services, and Tracon Integrated Services Limited, an intermediary in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. MSIS is already registered as a foreign legal entity in Equatorial Guinea and works with a local representative to identify potential opportunities.

These alliances follow the company’s decision to expand its services internationally, after the recent successful completion of its first overseas project in Equatorial Guinea. Commercial director, Neil McArthur, says it emerged during work there, that many more opportunities for work were available to MSIS in the region.

In addition to the agreements with Norwegian and Nigerian companies, MSIS is also looking to expand operations in other parts of West Africa, the Netherlands and Romania.

Mr McArthur said: “We were delighted to complete our first overseas project, which involved using our Premier Transfer System (PTS) to remove 540 tonnes of sludge and contaminated sand from storage tanks on board the FPSO Sendje Ceiba.

“We are so pleased with the project’s outcome, that we now see Equatorial Guinea as a key region for future business.

“We have therefore decided to build on this and look at other areas throughout the globe where we believe our services will be just as well received.”

Mr McArthur added that while the company is looking to international shores for future contracts, it will continue to consolidate its business within the UK.

He continued: “It is imperative that MSIS continues to grow both its sales and its profits. While we are keen to build on our UK business, we now seek to harness new opportunities overseas.
“This is a short-term strategy. Having secured our niche market position in the UK, we are ready to replicate these services abroad. We have made some solid connections with local companies and individuals in a small number of countries, and we are very confident that together, we can secure profitable international business.”
MSIS, which currently has 45 staff based in its Aberdeen and Invergordon offices, plans to train and supervise local staff in new regions, and anticipates appointing additional employees as business develops. The company will also continue to develop its range of innovative industrial cleaning solutions, such as its innovative PTS.
Part of the agreement with Overflateteknikk AS, will see MSIS representatives attend the 2008 Offshore Northern Seas Conference and Exhibition, to be held in Stavanger in August. The company will also attend an NOF Energy Oil and Gas market event in Holland in October, to meet with local suppliers and gather additional market intelligence.

MSIS works with clients in a variety of sectors, undertaking services including waste management, high pressure jetting, CCTV surveys, LSA decontamination, vacuum tanker hire, specialist coatings, oil spill response, environmental management and vacuum transfer systems.
