Leading industrial cleaning and waste disposal company, MSIS, has expanded its range of services by providing emergency response to clients working within a variety of sectors.

The company – which has offices in Aberdeen and Invergordon – offers the emergency response service for clients in the distilling, civil, utilities and oil and gas sectors, which are completing projects in confined spaces.

Examples of projects which require the service include, for example, tank cleaning, vessel inspection and pump chamber maintenance.

MSIS has invested in excess of £100,000 in rescue equipment – including the purchase of two new custom fitted response trailers – and currently has a number of teams which can be deployed in the case of an emergency.

Each of the response personnel has undergone intensive regulatory training, covering areas such as toxic gases and fumes, compressed air and breathing and casualty handling as well as search and recovery techniques.

The company – which has already had an encouraging response to the emergency response offering – has placed further personnel in the regulatory training to expand the service.

John Skinner, MSIS’ HSE and Projects Manager, says he is delighted the company can offer the service and feels it will play a key role in the future success and growth of MSIS.

He said: “Every confined space must now be assessed to determine whether an emergency response team should be deployed”.

“As we already posses expertise and specialist knowledge of working within confined spaces – through our experience in industrial cleaning and waste disposal – we felt this was a great opportunity to add to our services.”

Working in a variety of sectors, MSIS undertakes waste management, high pressure jetting, CCTV surveys, vacuum tanker hire, specialist coatings, oil spill response services, environmental management services and premier transfer system (PTS). The company currently has 50 full-time employees, although it regularly uses local agencies to hire suitably qualified staff to meet excessive demand when necessary.
